2005 vs 2025

It was twenty years ago when Scunthorpe speedway reopened at their new circuit at Normanby Road. It was initially very much a 'track in a field' operation, offering only the most very basic of amenity. Over the years the hardworking owners have gradually built up the facilities on offer and it's now a well-established stadium hosting both speedway and stock-cars.

It's also been re-named The Eddie Wright Raceway, the result of a long-running sponsorship deal with a local car dealership.

We thought it would be interesting to compare the track when it opened in 2005 (courtesy of these photographs from Richard Hollingsworth), with some pictures taken during the 2025 season.
