Consecutive GP Wins
By Tracy Holmes

Hancock Sullivan

By winning the NZ GP, Greg Hancock joined the list of riders who have won consecutive GPs.

1995 Rounds 3 & 4 Tommy Knudsen

1996 Rounds 2 & 3 Hans Nielsen

1998 Rounds 1 & 2 Tony Rickardsson

98-99 Rounds 6 & 1 Tomasz Gollob

2001 Rounds 2 & 3 Tony Rickardsson

2001 Rounds 5 & 6 Jason Crump

2002 Rounds 3 & 4 Ryan Sullivan

04-05 Rounds 9 & 1 Tony Rickardsson

2005 Rounds 3 & 4 Tony Rickardsson

2005 Rounds 4 & 5 Tony Rickardsson

2005 Rounds 5 & 6 Tony Rickardsson

2006 Rounds 2 & 3 Jason Crump

2006 Rounds 3 & 4 Jason Crump

2007 Rounds 1 & 2 Nicki Pedersen

2007 Rounds 7 & 8 Leigh Adams

2009 Rounds 4 & 5 Jason Crump

2010 Rounds 9 & 10 Tomasz Gollob

11-12 Rounds 11 & 1 Greg Hancock

Triple Crown wins:

2005 Rounds 3, 4 & 5 Tony Rickardsson

2005 Rounds 4, 5 & 6 Tony Rickardsson

2006 Rounds 2, 3 & 4 Jason Crump

4 in a row:

2005 Rounds 3,4,5 & 6 Tony Rickardsson

  • Only two rounds have been staged in the Southern Hemisphere (Sydney 2002 and Auckland 2012) and Greg Hancock has won them both.
  • We have to remember too Andreas Jonsson. Last year, he won Round 6, was 2nd to Jaroslaw Hampel after a photo finish in Round 7, then won Round 8. He so very nearly joined the list and could have joined Tricks and Crumpy on the Triple!

  • Ken Nicholson:

"This is a very interesting article by Tracy Holmes, but I wonder if it truly represents the moral victors. Thanks to a 'quirk' of the GP system, the winner of the round is not necessarily the one who leaves with the most points. Take that into account, then Andreas Jonsson would indeed be a triple winner. But the really unlucky rider in that respect must be Fredrik Lindgren. Twice he has top scored, but that gold medal continues to elude him. On the other side of the coin, perhaps one of the most fortunate riders on the night must be Rune Holta. He took advantage of Freddie’s first missed opportunity and walked away top dog despite scoring five points fewer."
