Johno's Testimonial
By Harry Ward

Steve in his testimonial kevlars

If anyone deserved a testimonial it was Steve. I remember Johno from the start of his career and he is one of those riders you dream about having in your team. Oozing charisma his tearaway style and long flowing locks endeared him to supporters all over the country. Although never a world beater on his day he is a match for anyone and I for one hope he is around the speedway scene for many years to come.

I took the time to go to Coventry for his big day and he can be so proud of the way the meeting went. Well organised and with a prompt start the meeting produced some good entertainment. Some great in between heats scraps from Ermolenko and Correy was a real high point. And to see the great PC out on track riding his last bike that he used just before retirement.

Peter Collins takes to the track

There were so many familiar faces from the speedway scene that it just showed how well loved he is throughout the sport.

It seemed a great success for a real nice bloke and I am sure that everyone who went had a good day.
